is it still okay to comment here?

The book.. well.. it's hard to explain a lot of it, for me anyway. But here are some main points:Newborns should go to sleep after only 1 or 2 hours of having been awake.Don't wait til your newborn is fussy to put him to bed but when he seems bored with what's going on around him. Around 4 or 5 months you can start giving your baby naps based on the clock, i.e. at 9 am and again at 1pm. (Maybe even a third nap.)Babies should go to bed for the night between 6 and 8 pm. They wake up around 7 no matter what time you put them to bed (based on circadian rythems I guess) so if you put them to bed late they end up overtired. (How do you spell rythem? I always have trouble with that one.)He says they'll still wake up twice a night for feedings if they're breastfed babies and sleep in the same room with their parents.Kids should usually still be taking an afternoon nap at least until their third birthday and going to bed by 8 (if I remember correctly).I hope I got all that right! I haven't even read the whole book, like the part for when Lucy's a little older. I did see that it says night feedings should stop at 9 months. And there's an adolescent section too.Hope that helps!! Maybe we could get you a book if you're that interested.

    I forgot something.

I left out most of the scientific parts cause that's the stuff that is hard to explain. But one of the main things is that when your kid gets fatigued, his body produces something (you know, one of those chemicals) that makes him fight sleep. So when they are waking up too much at night or having any problem really with sleep, he almost always recommends an earlier bedtime. Like way earlier. So if your kid is waking up too early or something, put him to bed earlier. It doesn't sound logical but seems to be working for us!

@wildflowerwendy - well, abby NEVER woke up at seven in her life (unless we woke her up).  she now gets up between 9:30 and 10:30am.  when she was an infant, she would sleep till 11am or even noon.  she currently goes to bed about 10pm.  and no sleeping interruptions except a rare occasion when she poops now and again.  so, i wouldn't even know how to start applying a book that says "all babies do this" when ours certainly doesn't.  interesting chemical facts, though.  i'm glad its working for you guys!  (ps - you can comment  on the new blog from now own.  its just nice cause it lets you link to ALL your friends blogs, no matter what server they're on).
